Your awesome Tagline

1 note

Dear 14 Year Old Me,

You are about to become a raging brat. You will be moody and insecure and horribly rude to your parents and it will take you years to shake the baggage you unnecessarily created and carried around with you until you were in your mid-twenties. Despite the ups and downs you will experience, and trust me, there will be many downs, you should stay positive and remember these three things at all times.

1.) Follow your heart. You will constantly have a civil war going on between your head and your heart. You will sometimes play favorites and listen to one more than the other, but overall your heart is great friends with your gut, and as a duo they will never lead you in the wrong direction.

2.) Remember that the world is at your fingertips. You will travel, and you will learn, and you will see and experience things you can’t imagine right now. People will tell you how successful you are going to be and you are going to both believe them and doubt them. Do not let your zeal for success slip through your fingers in the trying times of finals and indecisions about your future. As Mom always said, “you have everything you need to be successful within yourself.” That means that with all tools, personal belongings, pens and paper left behind, you can go into the world and be wildly successful with the skills and attributes you will acquire in your upcoming years. You will get closer and closer to college graduation and you will have no idea where you want to go and what you want to do, but remember: The world is at your fingertips! You can go anywhere, and do anything. All you have to do is decide. Decide and do it.

3.) Step outside of your comfort zone. You will experience things that are both physically and emotionally heart-wrenching. You will fall deeply in love and think that there is nothing greater and then fall in love again with someone else. You will find yourself happier than you’d ever been and then even happier five years later. Some of these things will feel like home and some of these moments will make you extremely uncomfortable. Embrace being upset, miserable and confused. These are the times that you will learn the lessons that will make you an incredible adult and an inspiration to the people you will meet in your future. Step outside of your comfort zone whenever you can and grow. Take the opportunities when you see them and embrace them with all of the enthusiasm your heart can bare.

If you can remember these things I have no doubt that you will find your element and walk gracefully on your path of destiny. It will not always be easy, but if it’s not difficult it’s probably not worth doing, and I promise you, it will be worth it. Hang in there kiddo, you’re bound to live an incredible life. Hold on tight and enjoy the ride. It’s going to be a wild one!

I love you :)

Before you go,

Hindsight is 20/20. Now that you know, live in the moment and accept the mistakes and the hurdles. They’re necessary to grow. If you’re confused now, you won’t be in the future. You’ll figure it out.
